How and why to report spam email

Watching spam email flood your inbox can be overwhelming. Some email spam can slow down your computer and consume valuable system resources (such as disk space). Spam is arguably one of the most unwanted parts of the internet. We do not like to open our inboxes to find dozens of emails promoting different products which we arguably don’t need. Nor do we like to open our email client to find a message that contains unsuitable content. Some people have been so disgusted by spam that they have stopped using their email altogether.

Spam emails are often loaded with worms, viruses, trojans and spyware that can cause damage to your computer. While you might simply want to delete spam messages every time you find your inbox flooded with them, you might be better off reporting these messages. By reporting unwanted emails, you could help alleviate not only your spam volume, but that of a countless number of other individuals. There are now even email lookup services that can help you learn more about unknown senders who try to reach you.

In order to get the most out of email lookups, it is important to know what kind of information you can get from such services and if it would be of any value to you. The directory entries generally contain the IP address, name and server information. This is all that you would be required to know to report a spam email.

Spam can come in many different forms. Therefore, you will be required to have reports of specific abuses while complaining. This is how email lookups help. They can help you determine the legitimacy of a particular spam email. When you compare the IP address with that listed in the email’s header, and you fail to find a match, you can file a report with the appropriate authoriteis. Email lookups are very helpful and will work to protect you against spam emails. It also keeps other users safe from receiving unwanted emails.

You can also report spam to your email provider. Most providers have buttons on the top of any opened message that allows you to report any spam email. This is an easy and convenient way to report spam. You can also send the mail along with the header to the federal government at spam@uce.gov to help the authorities trace the spam. By reporting spam you will be able to stop the practices of the spammers and can keep your inbox clean.
