Computer users all over the world are familiar with unsolicited commercial e-mail by now, though it is more commonly referred to as spam. However, due to some rapidly advancing technology in the 21st century computer users are not alone when it comes to seeing an excessive amount of spam. In fact one of the latest trends in spam marketing appears to be cell phone spam; and at the moment, there’s not much you can do about it. Computer networks have anti spam servers but cell phones go without making them easy targets.
Because most modern cell phones and smart phones lack any kind of spam filtering or spam blocking software, it is not uncommon to have 50 or more spam messages inside your inbox for every 1 genuine message received. Of course you’ll have to scroll through every one, check it yourself to make sure that it is indeed spam, and then delete it – this can be quite a time consuming process when it has to be performed on a monthly or even weekly basis.
On top of this, there are even more hassles involved with cell phone spam. If you’re trying to find an important message regarding your business, for example, you don’t want to waste time digging through your inbox trying to sort through the junk. Furthermore, what if your battery goes dead before you find the exact message you needed?
You should be able to see by now exactly why cell phone spam can be even more annoying than e-mail spam. And unless some serious measures are put in place by our government agencies, we’re likely to see a lot more cell phone spam clogging up our inboxes in the near future. There needs to be improvements to email protection for cell phones. |
