Spam – by now we’re all used to it; but for the most part, we are all quite fed up with it as well. As a whole, internet users are tired of all the hassles that come along with receiving spam e-mails in your inbox. Some of these hassles include:
- Time. Of course there is the amount of time that it takes to actually sort through these messages and delete them. This may be acceptable if you are only receiving a handful of spam messages in a day, or if you are using your e-mail account strictly for personal communication. However, if you receive tens of thousands of spam e-mails each and every day, or if your business e-mail account is constantly being spammed then this is going to take away from your work day as well as your overall productivity.
- A waste of broadband. Most spam messages that you will receive tend to be small in size and the actual body of the message usually only contains one or two sentences at the most. But sometimes spam messages can be quite lengthy, and some might include large (and potentially dangerous) file attachments.
- Spam can be dangerous. Besides dangerous file attachments, some spam e-mail messages even contain malicious code programmed directly into the message itself. This is undetectable by all but the savviest of computer users, and this code is capable of doing anything from stealing your credit card or other personal information to rendering your computer’s hard drive useless. |
